VirtuMedix™

Virtumedix                                       VIDEO
(article)

Recent blogs have all had a negative outlook on social media and mobile technology. However, astonishingly, I have discovered a positive aspect of location-based issues. Virtumedix is a highly secure virtual collaboration platform designed for remote consultation of health care providers and patients. A North Carolina based independent emergency medicine group, is the first to deploy the platform for improved patient care by its 136 emergency specialists who treat nearly 300,000 patients annually. This is an alternative to waiting hours in an emergency room, or waiting days to be seen by your primary care physician.

According to new research, 75 million "virtual" doctor visits, or 1 in 6 within the United States will occur this coming year alone. Frost & Sullivan forecasts that the video "medicine market" will grow at a compound annual rate of 16.7 percent in 2012 to reach more than $600 million in 2017. Hopefully, this will reduce healthcare spending, and improve quality of care to patients.

With all of the current health concerns being raised lately, I cannot help but think this should be the wave of the future. The way that cameras have such amazing picture quality, I feel that a video interview with a physician would be such as effective as long as no procedure was required. This is not only more convenient for the physician but convenient for the sickly as well.
